Blockx Oil Mediums

Amber was first used by the Flemish masters. For centuries it was overlooked and then was rediscovered in 1860 by Jacques Blockx. When dissolved, amber combines with oil (which becomes its medium). It then becomes a fatty and elastic material that does not decompose.

Amber was used by the Flemish masters in the 15th and 16th centuries. This would explains why their work remains in such a fine state of preservation. Because of its hardness, brilliance and unique color, amber is regarded as the most beautiful and most reliable of all resin substances.

10 ml glass bottle.
